Philippians is being shortened to 9 weeks for several reasons: It was written as a “first course” to introduce people to inductive Bible study, so a full week (five days) was devoted observing a chapter. Also, because there were so few Precept Upon Precept Courses many topical studies were included (which are now in other PUP courses), to try to cover everything in great detail. And a large number of word studies were assigned; some are no longer needed, because modern translations do a good job of communicating the meaning of Biblical Greek.
