Our staff small group took the plunge into Sweeter than Chocolate last Fall. We had 6 in the study. The ones unfamiliar with Inductive study and used to video driven studies had some difficulty making the transition...even though our author stressed the flex style we had a couple some who became overwhelmed with the "variety". That said I believe they came away with a greater commitment to the study of God's Word. Psalm 119 is one of my very favorite chapters in all of God's Word and I loved the study and I was so happy to get back to inductive study. We learned so much that when Hebrews 11 came out all but 2 of our group wanted to do it together and we picked up 2 new staff members. I recommend Chocolate 1 and 2 and not just to seasoned bible studiers...but anyone who is hungry and thirsty to know God better.Can't think of a better way than from His very Word.

This study of Psalm 119 has made a huge difference in how I view my time in God's Word. It used to be something I would check off my to-do list. Now I find myself longing for time in the Word, and have often sought out my Bible when I wake up in the middle of the night. The core study is enough when life gets crazy, but when I have extra time, I truly enjoy having an opportunity to dig deeper and take on the challenges set out for me.

The physical format is difficult to work with (spiral bound, wide page format)and there was no separate observation worksheet. The content was good and did have some good thoughts to ponder, but it wasn't the flow of thought you would expect from a Precept study. Lots of side bars which were very distracting and sometimes hard to relate to the main point. More personal response questions than study questions as you would see in a PUP study.

The content is well done, but the format is very frustrating. It wide book is difficult to handle, especially at a table with many others. I don't like the many side boxes. Also, this is not for a beginner. There are no cross-reference Scriptures, the student just has to find them on her own.

I waffle between good and great. I agree that a leadership guide would help in some places. Also some of the "dig deeper" are somewhat difficult to connect with the main point. However, the over all study has be wonderful and eye opening to a chapter of the bible that I often over look due to its length and repetitiveness. Thank you.
